  Everyone nodded and looked at each other.

  Uncle Dip was smiling now. “You all know that little Duffy Squirrel has been missing. Last night, three of our brave youngsters rescued him and brought him safely home.”

  He paused to take something from the sack, and Pibbin forgot to breathe.

  Uncle Dip held out three red stars. “Each one gets our Star of Courage.”

  Everyone cheered as Uncle Dip walked over to where they sat.

  “Stand up!” he said. “Who’s the leader of this bunch?”

  Slowly they stood up.

  Pibbin looked at Alix, and Alix looked at Leeper, and Leeper looked at Pibbin.

  “We’re a team,” Pibbin said.
